John Kneeland's Light Alive

John Kneeland was a very nice gentle man with a great kind soul. Larry as he preferred to be called was a retired Xerox employee that lived year round in a beautiful blue cottage on the west side of Keuka Lake. Larry lost the love of his life Lena Belle Goodrich Kneeland in 1981 and continued to live in the Blue Cottage until he died in 1991. Larry Kneeland loved his Wife Lee and his extended family and he generously shared his beautiful spot on Keuka Lake with family and friends throughout the years.
Larry was many things:
  • A Sailor
  • A Wood Craftsman/Cabinet Maker
  • A Great reader of books and magazines
  • Father/Grandfather/Greatgrandfather
The etched glass in this photo is a portion of a lamp that was the centerpiece of  the table on Larry's lakeside porch. It was Larry's ritual to sit for hours into the evenings and nights reading by the light of the Red Lamp. Now this light is in our home and every evening when I turn it on I think of Larry and his good Spirit.
